Covid19 Information
Updated 6/23/2022
Hello Church Famiily,
This week the CDC lowered the Washtenaw County community covid level down to “Medium” from “High”. As a result, the Elder and Minister Team has decided to remove the masking requirement for our balcony and for those serving in NLKids. We have also decided to begin passing the tithes and offering plates again during the connection card portion of our Sunday worship service. We have not done so since March of 2020, but feel with where things are with the pandemic currently and knowing that spread is less likely from surface to surface contact, that that would be a good and healthy practice to renew. We will continue to have hand sanitizer available and invite you to bring your own sanitizer if that would help you feel comfortable.
Looking forward to being together on Sunday!
Nik, on behalf of the Elder and Minister Team
Hello Church Family,
You may have heard that Washtenaw County late last week moved from “Medium” to “High” Covid Community Level according to the CDC’s website. The weekly metrics used to determine this are Covid case rate per 100k people, new Covid admissions per 100k people, and percent of staffed inpatient beds in use by patients with confirmed Covid. Those metrics have all increased in our county to trigger it being moved to “High”. Fortunately the death rate has continued to remain really low.
Our Elder and Minister Team met yesterday to discuss what this means for our community and Sunday service gathering. We did communicate in our last guidelines update when our county was designated “Medium” and we removed the masking requirement for our Sunday service that we would most likely return to requiring masks if our county went back to “High”.
After discussing this over and factoring in the increased metrics, the immunity in our church community from vaccines and previous infections, the lower severity of the current strain of the virus, pandemic fatigue, varying degrees of comfort levels in our community, and overall mental, physical, and spiritual health we have decided to make the following two changes:
- We are designating the balcony a “masks required” space. The seating in the balcony will continue to be socially distanced.
- We will be requiring all of our NLKids volunteers to wear masks.
Anyone can choose to wear a mask and it is recommended while in public and on public transportation by the CDC if your county is “High.” We will have plenty of masks on hand for the balcony, NLKids volunteers, and anyone who would like one.
Thank you for your continued patience throughout the pandemic.
Sincerely,
The Elder and Minister Team
Nik, Graig, Gaia, Rick, Joel, and Jay (Kyle is on sabbatical)
Hello Church Family,
In light of the new CDC guidelines regarding Covid and masking the Elder and Minster Team has decided to make mask wearing optional for our Sunday service (including the balcony and NLKids) and for all facilities use. The balcony will continue to have social distance seating available.
Using the CDC’s county tracking tool here is what their website says about Washtenaw County currently:
In Washtenaw County, Michigan, community level is Medium.
- If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
- Get tested if you have symptoms
People may choose to mask at any time.
If you are immunocompromised, learn more about how to protect yourself.
If the community level in our county moves to “High” we will most likely require masks again for our service; we will continue to monitor this level according to the CDC’s county tracker. Thank you for all your patience and grace throughout the past two years as we have attempted to maneuver through this pandemic together. Please continue to pray for God’s protection for our church family and greater community.
Sincerely,
Nik, on behalf of the Elder and Minister Team
